Goodbye 2010

SO many memories are filled with 2010. Heartbreak, falling in love, laughs, tears, winning, losing, snow, sun, water, trips, friends, family, and so many more.

If only I had time (or you patience) to hear all the strories. I really classify 2010 as a big year in my life. I think that I grew as a person. I'm not so shy anymore, my adventurous side fits well with my new outgoing personality I have figured out. I have seen different places, experienced new things, met new people, went through challenges I haven't before, seen life through new eyes, and just grown.

I owe a lot of 2010 to a certain someone...

Stein. He once said to a good friend (he thought I wasn't listening) "We're trying to get her out of her shell". Meaning my shyness. Well he did just that and for that I'll be forever grateful. He showed me how to wakeboard, showed me Seattle, taught me how much fun it is just to let go and just be yourself.

Did I mention I miss him?

Hello 2011..

Well I never really make resolutions because I believe that life changes and my goal is to be the best I can and stay on the right path and that is a successful life. But I have made a few goals of things I want to accomplishments:

1. Learn how to do a backflip and other cool tumbling tricks. (help anyone?)
2. Go off jumps and learn my first trick snowboarding
3. Jump off of the wake

More to come as I think of them. But that's good for now. Summer list will come when that gets closer :)

Christs' Hands

Christmas time is the time that everyone (well most people) look to help those in need out. To help those who don't have very much. And each year our family has a couple traditions to do just that.

It's not a 'put our picture in the paper because we gave to those in need'.

It's something that helps us all remember the true meaning of Christmas and not get caught up in the gift-shopping-retail-money blah blah part. Pres. Uchdorf (I think) gave a wonderful talk about that at the Christmas devotional.

It's one thing to give, for me and most people I think it's easy to give. On what level of giving that's a different story but I think the flip side- the receiving- is a whole other aspect and experience.

How grateful I am to have experienced that this Christmas. How grateful I am to live in the ward/neighborhood that we do. There is always service going on helping out each other, so welcoming when people move in, and just a together feeling. I love them. What a blessing it is to know that other people look out for you and are there. We (my family) have been humbled from the generosity and love that we've received.

And when people aren't.....

He is.

When you stop to see his hand in your life is when you really feel an overwhelming love and humbleness from the Savior.

Yep, I saw him. At temple square. And guess what? he found santa and it must've been the real one because he didn't attack him.

Made my night!!!! I even ran across the street to get a picture with him. I had the biggest grin after. My parents just shook their heads and laughed.

2010: Part 2

In 2010...

Someone died.

John Wooden 1910-2010. Left a mark on the world of basketball forever as the winningest coach ever. Behind he leaves a legacy of excellance, success, and an extraordinary life. I've learned so much from this man that I never met.

Someone was born.

I had a couple friends have babies this year. I'm not going to put pictures up well because I didn't ask permission from the mommies. But Nikki, a former teammate, had a little girl in August, Lux. SOOO cute!! Megan, a friend I grew up with and played volleyball with, is having a baby boy any day now so obviously I couldn't put a picture even if I wanted to. Can't wait to see him though!

Someone got married.

My best friend, April, got married last January. Almost a year now!! Crazy!! But if anyone has ever married the perfect person for them- she did. I love her and her husband, they are so cute together and hopefully I can have that kind of relationship when I decide to grow up..hehe.

P.s. Hate this pic of me but these are my best friends from high school who I still keep in contact with well because I chose well from the beginning :)

2010: Part 1

Part One: 2010 Firsts

2010 was such a great year and I experienced a lot of new and great things. Found a lot of new hobbies, too. So here is a few of them...

My first vans :) for my 20th birthday

I started using my first purse. Yes, my FIRST.

I didn't get my first car but I thought I would say that I got a new car because well I love it. Sidenote: this obviously isn't MY exact car because in America we put the steering wheel on the other side.

My first softshell and first Salolmon softshell. LIKE



 I got my ears pierced for the first time this year. I know it seems weird to do that at age 20 but I think it's unique.

I didn't buy this beautiful snowboard in 2010 but I did have my first season with it...wonderrrfull!!

I went to Seattle for the first time and hopefully not my last. I loved it...sooo pretty.

My first NFL game. Seahawks vs. Steelers

I went wakeboarding for the first time and loved it. I absolutely love being ON A BOAT!

And.... I shot my first shotgun.

My Cute Sisters

I have the CUTEST little sisters ever! They are so funny to hang out with. We went on a quest today to find a microcassette player {fail} and ended up going in like five stores and it would've been such a long search without them.

Conversation #1:
Emma starts singing { she sings A LOT } but not in a language I know.
Me: What?!
Megan: She likes to make up words and then use them in songs.
Emma: Ya I like silly words.

Moment:
We are walking down the aisle in Target and Emma announces that she is losing her skirt. So she bends over and of course her skirt is half way down her bottom. Megan screams and laughs and I go to stand her up so she won't moon the people behind us and she immediately jumps up and pulls her skirt way too high, smiles, and walks off. Haha sorry everyone walking behind us.

Basketball season is among us folks. I am very excited for this year, anxious to see what happens. Recently I've read a lot of books, inspirational books, and my favorite was from a man named John Wooden. I grew up in a basketball program where his philosophies were taught and from that I had the best experience with high school ball. My favorite memories are from that time and I still remain good friends with my teammates. I highly recommend reading his books because not only do they apply to basketball but mostly to life. The things I learned from my personal coach, Coach Clayton and from Coach John Wooden are applied in my life today and have changed my whole perspective on things.

As you know Coach Wooden passed away this past June. He is missed. Tribute to him as another season starts :)

Yes, yes I know..

I'm going to take all of the calls, comments, texts, etc. about saturday's game as compliments. I guess I am a very established Ute fan. But guess what, I'm not wavering. This is my opinoin, it's all I'm going to say:

TCU is a great team. One of the best in the country, overranked? No. But are they 40 points better than Utah?? No. I think Utah honestly didn't come out to play whatsoever. No, I am not trying to make excuses or take credit from TCU. TCU obviously is the better team but not 40 points better. Utah is a top ten team in my opinoin. My thinking is that this game was way too hyped up and either they got big headed about it or they just weren't focused. It's definitely not a question about preparation because well one thing..Coach Whit. That game had the blackout, new camo jerseys from under armour, game day in the parking lot, espn on the field in the field house, way to blown up. Yes, it was a huge game as far as rankings go but either that got to their heads OR they weren't focused. Forgot how to play like an underdog, play Utah football. I'd like to see a rematch but to TCU's credit, I want to see them against a Big East team, Auburn for example. I think that would be a game. Will I cheer for TCU? Of course, you always cheer for your conference. I respect TCU a lot and don't hate like some people down south do...go frogs haha. Utah just didn't come out and got their butt handed to them, serves them right. We'll move on. We have to we have Notre Dame next.

It really made me think twice about what I take for granted...like my eyesight. The simple thing of waking up and seeing. Knowing what my family and friends and the beautiful world around me looks like is something I've never really thought about.

It has been raining so hard for the past couple days..I love it! It's so weird though, it's been so long since it has rained that hard for that long. It made me want a rain jacket and boots pretty bad but then I remembered I won't use them again until like May. Wish we had a more rainy season.

As I was walking around outside the stadium (really I was trying to find scalpers, don't tell uchtdorf that) I saw him get out of his car as was walking towards the stadium. I was smiling pretty big and really just couldn't believe he was actually in front of me. As I passed him he saw me smiling at him, smiled back..
Me: "Hi"
Him: "Hello"
And that was the end of that story. As I was walking away I was kicking myself for not asking to shake his hand!! But at least he acknowledged me right?! Pretty cool

P.S.
In a non-creepy way..just observant..

I was close enough to President Uchtdorf to know that he smells good. Just FYI haha

Book of the Year

I just read the greatest book. It'll make my favorites for sure! Honestly when someone recommended it to me I was skeptical because well lets face it Lance Armstrong is a controversial guy. But I think that was just because I didn't know the whole story and now that I do, I want to wear a "Live Strong" band haha. It was really cool and really well written. It didn't make cancer into anything else but what it is..nasty.


Eight years ago, almost to the day, I lost my grandfather to cancer. He has and always will have a spot in my heart. He taught me to work hard and serve others, that when it might be incovenient or even a pain for us that it's important to love because somewhere along it all you'll find amazing people from places you never would've discovered otherwise.
He also taught me the meaning of a name. Hardman. I was taught from a very young age how important it was to do things that would not only not embarrass myself but my family because it affects everyone related to me.
Just to tell you how important it was..the first time I got that talk was when I lied in primary and told them it was my birthday just so that I could get a brownie. I was a hungry little girl and who doesn't love warm, gooey brownies?? But it just so happens that my dad was walking past when they were singing happy birthday to his daughter in november (my birthday is in april) haha.
I miss my grandpa dearly and still get choked up. He's my hero and I can't wait to see him again, I know he's watching over me.
I love you Grandpa!

It's one thing to lose your boyfriend..

..but another thing to have your best friend leave for two years.

One month has gone by! It's been so weird not to have him here or at least to call and talk to. But I do love getting letters, he's doing so good! But I'm glad it's been a month hopefully the rest will go by even faster haha.

A while ago I read an article about an Oregon football player. So cool to read about people like this because it seems that all we ever hear are story after story about athletes getting arrested/suspended for breaking laws and team rules. Refreshing to know that these kind of guys still exist in one of the greatest organizations ever..College Football.

Is it just me or does it still feel like summer? Maybe it's just because I'm not in school but the weather is beautiful it feels like winter is a long ways off.


But I do have to say living in Utah makes you love every season!! Hot summers, beautiful fall colors, snowy winters, rainy spring. I can't pick a favorite. But right now, beautiful fall...

Hello Seattle

One of the most beautiful cities I've been too! I loved every bit of it (even the odd crowd at the dock). The weather, the scenery, how fresh everything is, yes they have real life hood rats too.Not only did I get to go to this wonderful place but I got to spend every minute of it with this kid

Hot?? Yes :) Best vacation ever.

Funny though. Whoever named things in Washington must've not been all the way there. This is on lake...wait for it...SAMAMASH hahahaha. But it is the most beautiful lake I've been on I'll give them that, don't let the silly name fool you.

Other ones that made me laugh.. Snohomish county. Snobby omish?? haha. It was a good time.

Hardest thing ever to walk away from this boy that I love but hopefully he will get back as quick as the trip went. Can't believe he leaves in three days. But I'm way excited for him, can't wait to hear about all that he does.

Second post of the day...WHAT?

Yes this is my second for two reasons: One, I'm waiting for that certain boy to call. Two, that first one wasn't very happy so maybe this will be better.

Ok update time. Latley all I've been doing is working. It sucks. I literally have never hated working so much. When I'm not doing that I'm trying to spend time with my boy. Other than that...

I shot my first shotgun and it literally blew me away. But I definitely had a lot of fun hanging with Jen and Sean.

I went and played golf with my boy at Thanksgiving Point and I really want to get into golf now.


I finally feel comfortable on a wakeboard and after my third time doing it I can get out of the wake but not on my toe side quite yet. I want to get it down by the end of summer though.
I am so sad Summer is almost over!!! Oh well I guess that's just what happens every year haha. But really this has been one of the best summers of my life. :)

I love the little things in life. You don't need to spend a hefty bill to make me happy. Just the fact that you wanted to spend time with me and took the time to plan something is good enough for me.

I may or may not have a fascination of heavy machinery... your allowed to make fun but don't think I'm dumb because you'll probably get hooked too.

My dream pet is not a cat or even a horse even though I love both. Its a bird. A Eagle. Her name is Liberty and she lives at Hogle Zoo. (which is also a place I like to go)

I can watch games all day. Basketball, Football, Baseball are my top three. Be ready.

Our first addition to our family will probably be a Husky with blue eyes and I want to name her Miya.

I'm not perfect. Sometimes I have girl moments. Some are big and some are small. Let me tell you a secret... Just hold me. Not a half hug, not a 'get over it'. Hold me close and tight, tell me you love me and that I'm the best, tell me sweet things and let me cry on your shoulder. Promise I'll bounce back shortly after.

Just be there for me, always, through everything. I have a pretty soft heart and it's been hurt quite a bit just promise you will do everything not to do that. I promise no one will ever love you more than I will. I would do anything for you.

New Movie

I went and saw this with Stein last night

It gets: ****1/2 (four and 1/2 stars) It was so funny and just a classic action. I loved it and will probably invest when it comes out. Worth every penny for sure, its a GO.

And when you do GO you will want to visit the Provo Towne center mall theater because I'll tell you why. This thing is located directly below it..
Obviously the creeper in the picture won't be there actually a very nice man runs it. It's the biggest rush and it so so much fun. I had a blast and probably would've jumped throughout the movie but it does get tiring. So there you have it..date night idea. Your welcome.
