Everybody needs that person.

Today is just one of those days.
No, I'm not depressed or feeling sorry for myself but sometimes you just have those days
that you need a long, warm hug.
Someone to tell you they think your great.
That your beautiful even if you feel your worst.

Everybody needs that person because let's face it,
we can't do this alone.

I actually love this song.
Love Avril really.
Judge as you may, I'm a huge fan.

*warning: this is not edited and contains a few profanities*
also its kind of a cheesy video but the message is awesome.
everybody needs that person.

Smile :)

Dear Grandpa,

Unforunately the only pictures I have with you are from when I was little.
I miss you, everyday.
It's been 9 years now but I still feel like it was yesterday.

I still doesn't even feel real that your really gone as weird as that sounds.
You taught me so much and some days I feel you near.

Thanks for coming to my championship basketball game my senior year, I know you were always at every sporting event, dance recital, piano recital, band performances, and definitely at my graduation.
I know it was never easy for you to come sit through my softball/basketball games when I was little because of your health and well, who can sit for 1.5 hours on a wood bench?
But don't think that I took it for granted or didn't notice.
I did.
I still remember that flower bouquet you got me after one of my dance recitals when I was around 7 or 8.
Your the best.

Even when cancer hit you not once but two times, you never complained.
In fact, I didn't even know about the first time until years later because you are the toughest grandpa and put everyone first.
You will always be my hero.

You taught me what it means to be a friend, a teammate, a comrad, and just a good person.
You are purest form of giving and didn't accept anything back, you sacrificed a lot and overcome more to make us a forever family, you treated Grandma with the upmost respect and care, you are the foundation to our support system.

You also made a bigger sacrifice than I'll probably ever make, you served our country.
I've always been proud of that and will be forever proud of that.
I'm sorry that you had to see/experience the things you did over there. I know there are so many stories that you wouldn't tell us but it was probably a good thing. Thank you for protecting us.

I'm trying to be better.
I'm trying to be the best example of what it is to be a Hardman.
I'm proud to be part of your family and how grateful I am to be your granddaughter.
Your blood still runs through my veins and your in my heart.
Thank you for watching over me.

I love you, Grandpa.

Week of Concerts

So last week I got to go to not one..but TWO concerts!
So much fun!

The first was a comedy show with the man, the myth, the legend.. BRIAN REAGAN.
Me and my bro got to go to that one for his birthday, highly recommend going to his concerts!
I highly respect anyone who can be funny without dropping F bombs. Props.

Then that saturday I got invited to go to the Zac Brown Band concert!
Before: wasn't a huge fan of ZBB, he was ok and I didn't have anything against him but I probably wouldn't have bought tickets or a cd.
After: I. LOVE. ZBB. They had the greatest stage presence/show I've ever seen. Even better than Linkin Park. The colors, lights, set-up, visuals, stage layout, etc. Everything was brilliant! And on top of all that...they KILLED "devil went down to georgia". Love me some fiddle on steroids.

I had the priviledge of sitting behind this lady. She was just as good as the show. Sorry it's kinda dark but man oh man, look at those moves.
I didn't get it recorded but at one point she had to grab the railing in the aisle and balance herself...then proceeded to boogey. {closest adjective to describe her 'moves'}

Dear best friend

We've all heard the song "Letter to Me" by Brad Paisley..well here it is just in case you've forgotten.
Well I've decided to do this on this here blog with a little twist.
Some letters will be to me and some will be to people in my life
I've always been blessed with great people in my life and I don't think it's any coincedence.

Dear best friend,

Who would've guessed that our friendship that started in 9th grade as just teammates would grow to what it is now 4 years after graduating high school?! I love that you are so blunt and tell me how it is. You've never been scared to say how you feel and stand up for yourself which is something I've always been jealous about.

We are so different yet fit so well together. I love you like a sister. The best thing about our friendship is that it has withstood fights and distance.

Remember that one boy that was my first love and you told me that it wasn't a good idea. I can't believe that I didn't listen and thought you were just being rude. You were just looking out for me and I still regret letting that come in between us. I missed you leaving for college because of it. I don't think I ever told you this but I cried that day that you left because it killed me not getting to say goodbye. Let's be honest, we are two stubborn and competitive girls haha. But even that couldn't stop our friendship.
Remember that boy you thought you were in love with...well, two boys haha. I thank the heavens you didn't marry either of them. You are way too good for either of them.
But then one summer you found him. The man of your dreams and me being your best friend/sister came in to meet him with both fists up ready for a fight but guess what? He's perfect for you. I never thought that you getting married would be so easy. I thought it would be a devastating day haha
I may or may not have told him to take care of you that day...your welcome.

We are awesome.
You are awesome.
I love that we can vent to each other. Thank you for always putting me in my place and also the various boyfriends I've had. Thank you for understanding and never being afraid to tell me the hard truth.

I love you.

Love,
Me

New Year's Resolution #1

So I made a few New Years resolutions but the first one has officially begun!

#1: Cook more.

I want to cook more and not eat out so much.
Also, it'll help me because I kind of lack in that department of being a woman
BUT I do LOVE to cook so here was dish #1:

Au Gratin Potatoes/Funeral Potatoes/Yummy Potatoes
(aka my absolute favorite meal in the whole wide world)

Ratings:
4 Thumbs Up
(3 roommates and 1 mother)

I think the next one will be a soup but we'll see.
Any suggestions leave a comment!

Calling all big brothers

I have ALWAYS wanted a big brother my whole life.
Why?

1) helps keep creepers away
2) usually brings along cute friends with him
3) is there and has the best advice/insight when you have boy problems
4) protects you when life gets rough
5) I need someone to help me be strong, you can only do it for so long by yourself
6) someone that shows you life and shows you the ropes
7) I always wanted a big brother to play ball against and the little sister he shows off to his friends because I'm the coolest

So because I don't have the rights or funds to adopt a big brother
I have taken the liberty of sending out a casting call.

The candidates:

Rajon Rondo.
Occupation: NBA
Only 4 years older than me

#2:
Brandon Roy
Occupation: retired NBA
only 6 years older than me

#3:
Eric Weddle
Occupation: NFL
only 5 years older than me

Yup.
Any one of those three I would be in heaven.
I need a big brother.

Austin & Eveline: 2

Just found a couple more pictures that I really liked...sorry I still don't know why blogger won't keep the pictures right side up. Don't worry it's only 2 of them so you won't get a kink in your neck :)

They call me coach

Coaching at the sophomore level is both challenging and rewarding.

Rewarding:
relationships you have with the girls,
things they teach you,
sharing my love of the game,
seeing them succeed, etc.

Challenges:
often not as committed as I am,
every player has their own way of learning,
trying to get 10 sophomore girls to work together.

I often tell people that if you can't laugh at the things that happen...you will cry.
Excuses I've heard:

"Coach, I have a bruise on my knee I need to ice it." = obviously cannot practice

"I have to go to the dentist today" note: this usually is a worthy excuse. sidenote: she used this every week.

AND MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE:

"I hurt my neck brushing my teeth." - yes, for real. I was speechless.

They funny human beings and make me laugh all the time. I truly love my job of teaching them the game of basketball. I only wish I had more time with them...the season goes by fast.

In fact, it starts on tuesday.

Wish us luck :)

Austin & Eveline

This was such a great wedding to be at.
The love that was radiating from the love birds and their friends & family was beautiful enough not to mention the bride :)
I'm obviously not a professional or anywhere near it but thank you Lybbert's for allowing me to do this (even though a lot didn't turn out) I had a blast!

i love the next series...especially Eveline's look of "Don't even think about it" haha

for some reason the next one wouldn't rotate for me

Here's to 2012

Well I know it's been a long time since I blogged last and I'm pretty sure it was about the accident.
A lot has happened since then but I'll get to that...hopefully sooner rather than later.

As per tradition, the top 10's of 2011...eh this year it'll be Top 11's:

2011 was a GREAT year. So many life lessons, so many people, experiences, etc. But most of all SO many blessings.

I TURNED 21!

My sister graduated high school :)

My 2nd best friend got married...the one on the left is next :)

Had quite a few camp outs

Saw one of my favorite bands in concert...He is We

and on the last day of 2011 I made a huge decision.
I bought a brand spankin new 2012 Hyundai Accent! Love it already :)

Here's to 2012.
